Joint Business After 5 Event

We are working alongside the Burlington Chamber of Commerce, Flamborough Chamber of Commerce, and the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce to host the Joint Business After 5 event on our campus! This will be an opportunity for chamber members to network, as well as an opportunity for us to showcase our campus. We hope that members of our community will support us by attending the event!

Waterdown Farmer's Market

Laureate College is this year’s sponsor for the Waterdown Farmer’s Market!

On May 24, 2025, we will be at the Opening Day, featuring a speech by our Junior School Principal, Mr. Hamilton, a sponsor table, the kid’s corner, and live musical performances. We would greatly appreciate support from our school community, so please join us!

Elementary Outreach Day

We will be hosting a field trip for 60 grade 6 and 7 students on May 15, where our students will be taking groups of 15 through different activities. Mother's Day Concert / Open House

Thank you to everyone who attended out Mother's Day Concert and Open House on May 10! All of our students did an excellent job with their performances, and we will have footage of the concert to share coming soon.

We have more Open Houses coming up starting on May 24, and we hope to see you there. Please refer anyone you know who may be interested in attending!

Drop-In Days

We are hosting a series of Drop-In Days to meet the Junior School Principal, Mr. Robert Hamilton. The Drop-In Days have gone well so far, but we could always use the help of the Laureate College community in referring families to us. Click the link below to RSVP to any of the Drop-In Days. We encourage our community to refer more families to join us!

STEAM Projects

Each house team submitted their Term 3 glider projects and they competed to see which traveled the furthest. One glider stood out, created by Matthew, which he created using a 3D printer. Learn more about Matthew's design process by following the link below.

For Term 4, there will be 2 STEAM projects to be completed. The first project will be a catapult project, where teams will compete to see which catapult will launch a ball the furthest. For the second project, each team will grow a sunflower to see which team can nurture their flower to grow the tallest.

ESLA/ESLD/ESLE

Students are currently focusing on speaking tasks through structured discussions. These include literary analysis of the independent novel A Long Way Down by Nick Hornby, as well as thematic conversations about the importance of Mother's Day. Both topics encourage students to express personal opinions, make cultural comparisons, and apply vocabulary and grammar in meaningful contexts.

ENG2D: Grade 10 English

We worked on our three-part Frankenstein Final Project: the passage analysis in-class assignment, the outline for a journal entry (in the person of the creature), and the actual in-class journal entry based on the outline. Our focus for these projects is more customized to the overall curriculum expectations for grade 10 English, which influences assignment content, targeted skills, requirements, and standards.

Next, they will plant beans for an experiment they designed exploring the effects of light levels on plant growth.

Snow Day Procedures

For any snow days or school closures, the school principal will inform staff and faculty members at 6:45 am. The house advisors will then inform their students accordingly.

Cell Phone Policy

As of September 2024, the Ontario Ministry of Education introduced the No Cell Phone Policy during school hours. There was discretion at the secondary level to use cell phones as a learning tool under the direction of the teachers that we followed in term 1 and 2. However, the observations from staff is that cell phones are being used for personal reasons.

Therefore, starting term 3 (Wednesday January 29, 2025), no cell phone is permitted from 8:30 am to 3:15 pm. If students are involved in an after-school club, no cell phones are permitted from 3:30 to 4:30 pm. For boarding students, cell phones are permitted after 4:30 pm and during study hall.

If the new policy is not adhered to, the students will be reported to the office and required to leave their cell phone in the main office until the end of the school day. Repeated violation of no cell phone will lead to further consequences. If there is an emergency where you must contact your child, please call the main office at 416-800-8434 where arrangements will be made to connect you with your child.
