As the weather actually turns more summer like and we have been getting outside more often, it amazes me how lucky we are to have such a beautiful campus. With the leaves and blossoms flourishing it is so relaxing and pleasant to just go for a walk and enjoy our surroundings. Add in Russ working with our students in getting our wonderful garden together and it truly makes Laureate College an oasis in the city. I was even more reminded of our good fortune this week as international attention talked more about the "30 by 30" initiative—a worldwide effort by governments and environmental organizations to designate 30% of Earth's land and ocean area as protected by the year 2030. This is ambitious, but seeing nature outside our doors every day, hopefully helps our students want to campaign to halt the loss of biodiversity and protect the ecosystems around us.
Also, tomorrow is National Creativity Day, a day dedicated to the imaginative spirit that lives within every individual. While often associated with the arts, creativity is actually the bedrock of all human progress—it is the ability to look at a problem and see a possibility that no one else has noticed yet. It is about the courage to experiment, the resilience to fail, and the vision to try again. At Laureate College, we view creativity as a core academic competency rather than an extracurricular activity. By reflecting on this day, we want to highlight our school value that there is no "one right way" to solve a complex problem. We encourage our students to take risks with their ideas, knowing that their unique perspective is their greatest asset in a world that prizes innovation.
Junior School Update
We have some wonderful poets in Grade 5/6! This week, we jumped right into our poetry unit and students have already been showing so much creativity and enthusiasm. We explored how poetry can take many different forms and be used to express thoughts, feelings, and imagination in unique ways. So far, students have experimented with several styles of poetry, including alphabet alliteration poems, cinquain poems, colour poems, and concrete poems. It has been so much fun to see their creativity shine and watch them play with language, imagery, and descriptive words. So many thoughtful ideas and lots of creativity being shared in our classroom!
Grade 7&8 students have begun preparing for their upcoming dramatic production, Mastermaid, by designing and creating their own stage props. Working collaboratively, they brainstormed ideas, sketched designs, and used a variety of materials to bring their visions to life. This hands-on process allowed students to explore creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork while gaining a deeper understanding of how props help tell a story and enhance a theatrical performance. We are excited to see their hard work come together on stage in the weeks ahead!

As we enter the final three weeks of the school year, our high school students are focused on completing culminating assignments, preparing for final evaluations, and finishing courses strongly. This time of year often brings a mix of excitement, stress, reflection, and anticipation for summer, graduation, or next year’s opportunities.
Teachers continue to provide academic support, feedback, and opportunities for students to demonstrate their learning and growth. Families can support students during this important stretch by encouraging consistent attendance, healthy routines, balanced schedules, and effective time management. Even small habits such as getting enough sleep, staying organized, and limiting distractions can make a significant difference in helping students finish successfully.
We also encourage students to communicate proactively with teachers if they need clarification, extra help, or support in completing assignments. The final weeks are an important opportunity for students to demonstrate resilience, responsibility, and perseverance.
For our Grade 12 students, this is also a meaningful season of transition as graduation approaches. We are proud of the growth they have shown throughout the year and look forward to celebrating their accomplishments in the weeks ahead.
Our Class of 2026 has already earned 109 offers from universities and over 1.4 million in scholarships to date, with acceptances across Engineering, Business, Arts, Sciences, Media, Bachelor of Education, and more.
